If you're interested in becoming more confident with your holster draw in a safe, controlled environment – this class is for you!

If you’re interested in becoming more confident with your holster draw in a safe, controlled environment—whether you’re a competitive shooter, a CCW permit holder, or simply want to learn the fundamentals of a safe and efficient draw—this class is for you.

Our Basics of Holster class is taught using a safe, step-by-step approach that emphasizes proper technique and safety at every stage. Students will learn and practice:

  • A smooth, safe draw from the holster
  • Safe and controlled re-holstering
  • Efficient magazine changes
  • Fundamental shooting skills related to drawing from the holster*

This is not a beginner shooting class. Students must already have a basic understanding of their firearm, how it operates, and safe shooting fundamentals. If, at any point, the instructors feel you would benefit from additional training before completing this course, we may recommend that you return after gaining those skills. Our primary goal is to ensure every student handles firearms safely and confidently.

Holster Requirements

After registering through Eventbrite, you will receive detailed class requirements and equipment information.

This class is limited to the following holster types:

  • Strong-side outside-the-waistband (OWB)
  • Strong-side inside-the-waistband (IWB)
  • Strong-side appendix carry (AIWB)

For safety reasons, the following holsters are not permitted:

  • Serpa holsters
  • Shoulder holsters
  • Cross-draw holsters
  • Pocket holsters
  • Ankle holsters
  • Purse or bag holsters
  • Any other holster style not listed above

Holsters must:

  • Be specifically designed for your firearm
  • Be constructed of Kydex, polymer, or form-fitted leather
  • Be securely attached to your belt or person
  • Completely cover the trigger guard

Nylon, cloth, soft, or flimsy holsters are not permitted.

We look forward to helping you build the skills and confidence to safely draw and holster your firearm.

*Note: Students using strong-side appendix holsters may participate in the instructional portion of the class but may not participate in the live-fire exercises.
