Steel Plate Rack - Apple Valley Gun Club

Steel Plate Rack (Practice & Match)

AVGC offers Steel Plate rack events in both practice and match formats (alternating months for Thursdays and Saturdays).  Matches will be timed and results will be uploaded to PractiScore.

Steel Plate Rack features three to four stages, each using one rack of six 8” steel plates. The minimum setup distance of 30 feet.

Shooters will be starting from the holster, and concealment is optional.

Newer shooters are always welcome, but we reserve the rights to start you from low ready on initial round(s).

Location:  Pistol range bays 1 and 2

Steel Plate Rack Match

Each stage will have a different course of fire.  Each shooter will shoot each stage (string) four times, timed using a shot timer.  The slowest string will be thrown out. The shooter’s results will be recorded in the PractiScore app.

In this PractiScore Match format, each shooter can see their results and compare progress, month over month.

Shooters will learn how to use a shot timer and how to score using a tablet running the Practiscore App, preparing them for more advanced matches at Apple Valley Gun Club.

If shot clean, each stage is 24 rounds.

Match Schedule

Thursdays:  Even months (February, April, June, August, October, December)

Saturdays: Odd months (January, March, May, July, September, November)

Steel Plate Rack Practice

Shooters will shoot two at a time, head to head.  This will be a practice format and not a competitive elimination.  Everyone will shoot on every rotation.

This format includes a random drawing for shooting order and pairings on each round.  Depending on the number of participants, you will shoot 6 to 8 rotations.  Depending on your skill (accuracy), estimated round count will be 104 to 175±.
